Estimate the cost of delivery oral PrEP among men who have sex with men in Vietnam for period 2021 - 2025

Men who have sex with men (MSM), an analytical cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted, based on 1.563 medical records of MSM who enrolled in PrEP in 2021 at 02 health clinics in Hanoi, combining analysis of cost components based on a service provider’s point of view. The results show that the average cost of PrEP treatment per MSM person per month is 355 thousand VND (15.27 USD), the average cost of PrEP treatment per MSM person per year is 1 million 970 thousand VND (84,76 USD) with the average duration of continuation was 5.5 months. In which, the cost of PrEP drugs accounted for 33.57%, testing accounted for 34.15%, operating 12.35%. The cost components of PrEP drugs and tests are the two cost components that account for the highest proportion in the cost of PrEP treatment. The total budget for PrEP treatment for the period 2021 – 2025 in Vietnam is VND 389.66 billion.
