Abstract

A cross - sectional study was performed to assess the quality of life among the elderly in Chi Linh district of Hai Duong province and Kim Boi district of Hoa Binh province from June 2020 to May 2021. The study was randomly carried out with 622 elderly in 2 communes above through the WHOQoL-100 tool (Vietnamese version). The results showed that the average score of QoL amongst the elderly was 226 ± 33.6 (or 6.9/10). There was only 9.5% of the elderly had good QoL. The factors related to QoL include ethnicity, age, education level, marital status, living with relatives, current health status, chronic disease, and occupation (explained for 30.7% of variation). The results showed that the elderly who were ethnic minority people, aged 80 or higher, single, and having chronic diseases should be prioritized in healthcare intervention programs.
