Acute pancreatitis is a common disease of the gastrointestinal tract and is increasingly. The 2012 modified Atlanta criteria has been divided the severity of acute pancreatitis into: mild, moderate, and severe based on the presence of persistent organ failure, local and systemic complications. This study was performed to determine the rate of acute pancreatitis and describe the relationship between clinical and laboratory factors and the severity of acute pancreatitis. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 106 patients with acute pancreatitis. Results showed that the rates of acute pancreatitis according to the 2012 modified Atlanta criteria from mild to moderate and severe were: 80.3%, 16.4%, 3.8%, respectively. There are 5 factors, which are associated with severity in patients with acute pancreatitis such as BMI (≥ 25 kg/m2), BISAP Score (≥ 3), Blood glucose at admission (> 11.1mmol/L), HCT (≥ 44%), CRP hs (≥ 150mg/dL). In conclusion, the rates of acute pancreatitis and factors associated with acute pancreatitis using the modified Atlanta criteria were not different from the previous criteria.
