Risk factors and warning signs of stroke in hypertensive patients at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital

In order to assess the status of awareness of risk factors and warning signs of cerebral stroke in hypertensive patients at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, a cross-sectional descriptive study from September 2020 on 170 people adults 18 years of age or older with a diagnosis of hypertensi on and no previous history of stroke. Convenience sampling method, participants were surveyed by a set of questions. The results were as follows: the pass and fail awareness rates of stroke risk factors were 29.4% and 70.6%, respectively. The most identified risk factors were hypertension pressure (75.9%). The rate of passing and failing awareness of stroke warning signs was 51.8% and 48.2%, respectively. The most commonly identified warning signs of stroke are: sudden numbness or weakness of hemimotor paralysis (82.4%). The factors associated with the awareness of achieving stroke risk awareness are age, occupation, education level, average income, and marital status. The factors associated with the perception of achieving stroke recovery are age, average income, and marital status.
