The emotional intelligence status of nursing students at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2020

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is very important problem in many researchs. The research to describe the status of emotional intelligence of regular nursing students at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2020 and some influencing factors. Research method is cross-section descriptive the study on 112 nursing students in the frst year of university
year 2019 – 2020. The research results show that the average student EQ score is 81.3 points. Minimum EQ score is 20 and maximum EQ point is 160 points. The number of students in the high group accounts for a very small percentage: 0.9%. 30.4% of the students with EQ score were considered medium and 58% of the students with EQ score were below average;
10.7% of students with EQ scores classifed as very low. According to students’ assessment, the most chosen factor affecting emotional intelligence is their own efforts to strive with the maximum number of 100% choices, followed by friend relations and The percentage of school education is 95.5% and 91.1% respectively. The university should integrate emotional intelligence education for students into their subjects and organize many collective activities to encourage student participation.
