Abstract

The proportion of elderly people is increasing rapidly in Vietnam. A crosssectional descriptive study was conducted to understand the situation of quality of life and some related factors in people aged 60 and older in Thuy Thanh commune, Huong Thuy town. The EQ-5D-5L quality of life measurement scale in Vietnam was used to randomly interview 400 subjects, the EQ-5D-5L index ranges from -0.566 to 1, the higher the value, the better the quality the higher the life. The result showed that the Alpha coefcient of EQ- 5D-5L was 0.92. The average point of quality of life was 0.73 ± 0.31, of which 72% of the subjects suffered from mild to very severe pain, 59.25% feel anxious and melancholy from mild upward, most subjects have little difculty in traveling, self-care, and regular activities. The results from multivariate regression analysis indicated that factors related to quality of life scores were occupational status, economic status, health status, life satisfaction and suggesting depression. The study results provided evidence for strategies to improve the quality of life in groups with lower quality of life points such as poor health status, low life satisfaction and suggesting depression.
