Abstract

This study aimed to assess the impact of adverse childhood experiences on bullying behaviors among middle school students in Da Nang City. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 447 middle school students in Da Nang City from September 2023 to June 2024. Results showed that 48.3% of middle school students in Da Nang City had experienced adverse childhood events. Adverse childhood experiences associated with bullying behaviors included living with someone who had problems with alcohol or drug use, witnessing domestic violence, and experiencing verbal abuse from parents or other adult family members. Experiences of family violence were found to be a primary predictor of bullying among middle school students in Da Nang City. Therefore, there is a need to promote health education programs addressing the consequences of domestic violence and the importance of a happy family environment.
