Abstract

The study analyzed some factors related to breastfeeding practices in the frst 6 months of mothers having children under 24 months old in 3 communes of Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province. A cross-sectional descriptive study in 400 mothers having children under 24 months old were conducted direct interviews with predesigned questionnaires. Education, occupation, method of birth and getting breastfeeding advice related to early breastfeeding practices of mothers. Regarding exclusive breastfeeding in the frst 6 months, it is related to the place of birth and the maternity leave policy. It is needed to strengthen propaganda and training on breastfeeding, coordinate with health facilities in implementing regulations on reproductive
health care in supporting early breastfeeding right after birth.
