Work motivation and some related factors of medical staff working at commune and ward health stations in Thai Nguyen city in 2023

Abstract

A cross - sectional survey was conducted among 168 health staff who are working at the commune health station in Thai Nguyen city to discribe work motivation and factors affected to the motivation of health staff who are working at the commune health station in Thai Nguyen city. Work motivation was collected according to three issues: satisfaction, commitment and thoroughness by a questionair with Likert 5-scales. Good motivation for working as a result of satisfaction, commitment and dedication reached 63.1%, respectively; 59.5% and 78.6% among commune health workers. The percentage of health workers who are motivated, the overall good level of all factors is 55.4%. The inspiring medical facility aspect had the lowest average score of all other aspects, scoring only 3.76 points (5-point scale). Staff with graduate or postgraduate degrees are 2.56 times more motivated to work than those with college or intermediate degrees (OR: 2.56, CI (1.008 - 6.489). Leaders of Thai Nguyen City Health Center need to pay attention to creating better motivation for commune health workers in general, especially to staff with college or intermediate degrees.
