Abstract

A cross - sectional descriptive study conducted on 140 medical staff at the Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in 2023 aimed to describe the current status of knowledge and practice of hand hygiene of medical staff. Research results showed that the rate of medical staff had good knowledge was 53.57%, of which the highest rate of good knowledge was 65.67% for nurses and 66.67% for midwives, the lowest rate was 16.67% for technicians, the difference was statistically significant with p < 0.05. The hand hygiene compliance rate was 58.7%. The rate of good hand hygiene practice was still low (25.12%). Hospital management needs to provide periodic training on hand hygiene for all medical staff, including doctors and technicians. After the training, the reassessment of the knowledge and practice of medical staff. The monitoring activities of hand hygiene compliance should be strengthened.
