Abstract

A cross - sectional study on 608 elderly people in Van Don district, Quang Ninh, during the period from January to October 2023, to describe the prevalence and factors related to quality of life. The quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-BREF scale. The research revealed that 83.1% of the elderly participants self-assessed their quality of life as good, while 17.9% expressed satisfaction with their current health status. The overall quality of life score across the four aspects was 59.53 ± 10.05 points. The environmental aspect received the highest average score, whereas the social aspect scored the lowest. Gender, age, income, and illness were statistically significant factors related to the physical aspect. Age, income, and illness were statistically significant factors related to the psychological aspect. Gender and income were statistically significant factors related to the social aspect, while gender, living status, income, and illness were associated with the environmental aspect. Increased attention should be paid to low-income individuals and those living alone, and screening for early detection of chronic diseases among the elderly and encouraging regular health examinations are interventions to improve the quality of life.
