Some clinical and epidemiological characteristics of scabies among scabies patients in clinic of National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology in 2019 - 2020

This study aimed to describe some clinical and epidemiological characteristics of scabies among scabies patients in clinic of National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology in 2019 - 2020. A cross-sectional study was implemented on 356 patients diagnosed scaby by clinical examina-tiona,wet-mount test and dermoscopy technique. The results showed that vulgaris scabies was the most common type, accounting for 88.5% of the patients. 16.3% of the patients had infection compication, 26.4% having lesions in the genital aerea. Regarding the severity, most of the pa-tients suffered from moderate type (62.4%), followed by mild type (31.7%). Severe type ac-counted for only 5.9%. The most common skin lesion was vesicles (seen in 91.9%), followed by crust (90.7%), scaby burrow (50.8%). The most common site of scaby lesion was interdigital aerea, (93%), waist/abdomen (50.6%), wrisst (46.6%). 87.1% of the patient lived with their fami-ly, 75% lived with the people who were suffering from scabies. 36.5% thougt that they got in-fected from friends, and 25.8% thought from family members. In conclusion, the most common skin lesion was vesicles. Interdigital areas were the most common site of the scabies lesions, itchy sensation was most commonly reported at night. Most of the patients supposed that they got the disease from their friends or family members. Those signs could suggest scaby diagnosis clinical-ly in the setting of lacking laboratory support.
