Nutrition status and frequency of food consumption of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis in Hai Phong Medical University hospital in 2021

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 88 patients with chronic kidney disease, who were undergoing hemodialysis in Haiphong Medical University hospital, from January 2021 to May 2021 to describe the nutrition status, frequency of food consumption of patients. According to research results, based on the body mass index (BMI), 22.7% of participants had malnourished status; 64.8% normal; 10.2% pre-obese, and 2.3% obesity level 1. According to the malnutrition screening tool (MST): 15.9% had nutritional risk; 84.09% had no nutritional risk. According to the serum protein index, there was 1 malnourished patient (accounted for 1.1%). According to the serum albumin index, 11.4% of patients with mild malnutrition. In the diet, patients used food groups in their daily meals which were 100% rice products, 94.3% vegetables. Food groups that provide protein such as meat, fish, seafood and eggs were eaten weekly by patients; most patients did not use canned food and alcohol. Interventions are needed to improve the nutritional status of patients.
