Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 286 children under 5 years old in Quyet Tien commune, Tien Lang, Hai Phong to describe the malnutrition and some factors related to the malnutrition status of children under 5 years old. Children were measured weight, height by the anthropometric method, interviewed mothers with pre-designed questionnaires. The results
showed that the prevalence of underweight was 12.2%, stunting was 18.5% and wasting was 8.0%. Some factors related to the malnutrition status of the child including birth weight below 2500 gram; mother has an education level below high school, weaning before 18 months old; children are not given supplementary food at the age of 6 months; children has had diarrhea in 3 months ago. Appropriate intervention solutions are needed to improve the nutritional status of children in Quyet Tien commune, Tien Lang, Hai Phong.
