A cross sectional study was conducted to describe the epidemiological characteristics of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province over 13 years (January 2010 - December 2022). The results showed that DHF is a common endemic disease with 4 types of virus causing the disease, DENV-1 type is dominant and is the highly circulating type in the province. The cycle of dengue epidemic was 3 years, the number of cases was concentrated in the rainy season, peaking from August to September. The number of dengue cases was distributed in 8/8 districts of the province, the highest recorded in Vung Tau city. Gender and age were related to the severity of dengue disease. Women had a 1.17 times higher rate of severe illness than men (95% CI:1.02-1.33). The age group 15 years and under had a 2.76 times higher rate of severe illness than the age group over15 years (95% CI:2.41-3.17). Treatment facilities need to prioritize monitoring of female dengue fever patients, aged 15 years and under to reduce the severity and death caused by Dengue fever.
