This study describe the awareness of knowledge and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students in urban Hanoi and its relation to academic performance in 2022. A total of 2,378 students from two secondary schools participated, with survey information including personal factors, family, academic performance, and awareness of the impact of COVID-19. Using a multi-level ordered logistic regression model, the results show that the average self-awareness score regarding COVID-19 knowledge among students is 7.0 (SD = 1.98), the average self-awareness score regarding the impact of quarantine measures is 4.17 (SD = 2.98), and the average self-awareness score regarding health impacts is 3.98 (SD = 2.98). Students with higher awareness scores about COVID-19 knowledge are less likely to have poor academic performance (OR = 0.83, 95%CI = 0.80 - 0.87), while those with higher awareness scores about the health impacts of COVID-19 are more likely to have poor academic performance (OR = 1.06, 95%CI = 1.02 - 1.11). The study highlights the negative impact of the pandemic on health, which also contributes to reduced academic performance, emphasizing the urgent need for psychological and physical health support for students.
