The objective of this study is to describe the results of surgical wound care for patients undergoing middle ear plastic surgery using prophylactic antibiotics at the Department of Otolaryngology, National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital in 2023. This is a prospective study describing a series of cases on patients with chronic otitis media who underwent middle ear plastic surgery using prophylactic antibiotics at the Department of Otolaryngology, National Otorhinolaryngology Hospital from March to October 2023. The results showed that 100% of patients had good postoperative wound condition, no wound infection. At the time of discharge, the wound was dry in 98.2%, there was no hematoma, no swelling. 78.9% of patients still had mild pain at the surgical wound. At the time of the first follow-up visit (10 - 14 days after surgery), the wound was dry in 100%, no patients had fever, no swelling, no heat, no redness, no pus discharge from the surgical wound. Only 15.8% of patients still had mild pain at the surgical wound. Research shows that prophylactic antibiotics are effective and should be widely used in patients with chronic otitis media undergoing tympanoplasty.
