Quality of life among the frst year - students at Thang Long University in the academic year of 2018 - 2019 and some associated factors

An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on 400 frst year students at Thang Long University, Hanoi, Vietnam in the academic year of 2018 - 2019, using a convenience sampling technique to assess quality of life among the frst year-students and describe some associated factors. Study subjects were requested to response the administrated questionnaire. The data was entered with Epidata 3.0, and then analyzed in SPSS version 22.0. The results demonstrated that the mean quality of life score of study subjects were 67.5 ± 16.4. The higest scores were obtained for physical functioning domain (79.0 ± 23.9), followed by bodily pain (78.3 ± 18.3), role physical (77.7 ± 36.7), social functioning (74.6 ± 22.1), role emotional (63.7 ± 42.5), mental health (59.0 ± 15.9), vitality (52.3 ± 20.1) and the lowest scores were for gerneral health domain (46.1 ± 21.3). In addition, 38.5% of the surveyed students showed to have high quality of life, 45.7% were adequate, 15% were low and 0.8% were very low. Findings also showed that some factors statistically signifcant associated with the quality of life of university
students were gender, age, fnancial status, the presence of depression and anxiety, the presence of some chronic diseases, the experience of stressed events/accidents/acute bodily pain, and alcohol/beer use.
