The knowledge, attitudes and preventive practices (KAP) regarding HIV and HIV phase III vaccine acceptance of residents in Kien Duc town, Dak R'lap district, Dak Nong province, 2021

A cross - sectional descriptive study was conducted on 384 residents in Kien Duc town, Dak RLap district, Dak Nong province from January 2021 to February 2021; the data was collected by handing out or face-to-face interviews based on a designed questionnaire. The objective of the study was to describe the knowledge, attitudes, preventive practices related to HIV, HIV phase III vaccine acceptance of residents in Kien Duc town and identify some factors influenced to HIV vaccine acceptance. The results showed that in general, residents have correct knowledge, good attitudes and preventive practices about HIV screening: 33.1%, 97.1%, and 99.5%, respectively. They have known information regarding HIV, preventive HIV via mainly magazines (75%), television (67.7%), social media (65.9%), and professional health (60.4%). 100% of residents consider the use of HIV vaccine necessary and vaccine price affects their vaccine acceptance. Research shows that there is a significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes, preventive practices (p < 0.05). The HIV phase III vaccine acceptance of residents is quite high and there is a significant relationship between this vaccine acceptance and knowledge, attitudes, practices related to HIV. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen education and transfer information about HIV for residents through magazines, books, television, social media as well as health professions.
