Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) disease is one of the top ten causes of death worldwide. Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is defined as a state of persistent immune response that stimulation by Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens without evidence of clinical manifestations on active tuberculosis (TB) disease. The study was to determine the prevalence of latent tuberculosis infection, and knowledge about pulmonary tuberculosis, and identify some factors related to latent TB of people living with pulmonary TB patients in Long Xuyen city, An Giang province in 2020 - 2021. Analytical crosssectional descriptive study was performed on 324 subjects in Long Xuyen city, An Giang province in 2020 - 2021. Results showed that the rate of latent TB infection was 35.8%, the percentage of people with correct general knowledge about pulmonary tuberculosis is 21.6%. Some factors associated with latent TB are: education level, occupation, poor and nearpoor households, Diagnosed with diabetes, knowledge about tuberculosis. It concluded that the rate of latent TB infection in the group of family members living with pulmonary TB patients is quite high, It is necessary to be noticed in the prevention of tuberculosis in Long Xuyen city.
