Abstract

A cross - sectional descriptive study collected 600 people aged 18 and above in Tra Vinh City. The objective was to determine the prevalence of hypertension and some influencing factors in people aged 18 and older in Tra Vinh City in 2022. The results of the study showed that there was 29.2% of people had hypertension; systolic blood pressure was 127.47 ± 10.47, and diastolic blood pressure was 81.04 ± 6.03. The study also found a statistically significant correlation (p < 0.05) between the prevalence of hypertension percentage and five factors, including age, education, family history of hypertension, general knowledge, and diabetes. Therefore, people need to apply healthy eating habits, scientific activities, and blood pressure monitoring to reduce the risk of hypertension and timely treatment to prevent complications, while the health sector, especially at the grassroots level, must ensure the availability of adequate facilities and complete advisory services for people, monitoring diseases at  a young age to bring them to the top for timely treatment of young cases. The local government needs to provide support for the health sector in order to improve the quality of health in the
locality and reduce the burden of disease on the community, facilitating sustainable and strong development.
