The study aimed to evaluated effectiveness of quality of life improvement of cirrhosis patients after umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell transplantation at Vinmec International Hospital. A total of 20 cirrhotic patients received mesenchymal stem cell transplantation from the umbilical cord from December 2020 to September 2023 with an infusion dose of 1 million cells/1kg body weight via the hepatic artery at Vinmec International Hospital. Quality of life of patients before and 3, 6, and 12 months after transplantation was scored based on The Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire (CLDQ) consisting of 29 questions. The study results showed that the average quality of life score of 20 patients in the study increased significantly after 12 months of intervention. Specifically, with the exception of a slight decrease in systemic symptom scores after 3 months, most other aspects had a clinically significant increase. The most prominent improvement was in anxiety, which increased to 3.06 points after the intervention. Treatment of cirrhosis with mesenchymal stem cells cultured from umbilical cord tissue is initially effective in improving emotions and reducing fatigue and anxiety in patients with cirrhosis.
