The cerrent sittuation of diagnosis and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection among household contacts of pulmonary tuberculosis patiennts in Thai Nguyen province in 2022

The study aims to describe the current situation of diagnosis and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection among household contacts of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in Thai Nguyen province in 2021 - 2022. A crosssectional descriptive study was conducted on 431 household contacts of pulmonary tuberculosis patients participating in latent tuberculosis infection screening in Thai Nguyen province in 2021 - 2022. Research results show that female household contacts account for 59.2%, the age group from 5 - 14 years old accounts for highest proportion (19%); the rate of latent tuberculosis infection of the study subjects was 22.3%, accounting for the highest rate in the group of 55 - 64 years old (22.9%) and 57.3% of the subjects with latent tuberculosis infection were women; the rate of consent to treatment for latent tuberculosis infection is 83.3%, the completion rate of latent tuberculosis infection treatment reached 97.5%. Household contacts of TB patients aged 60 years or older were 2.2 times more likely to develop latent tuberculosis infection than household contacts under 60 years of age. The results show that the rate of latent TB of household contacts with pulmonary TB patinents is 22.3%, it is necessary to further strengthen the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection in the group of household contacts with pulmonary tuberculosis patients, especially those aged 60 years and older.
