A case series study was conducted on 34 patients with 34 molars examined, diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis and indicated for endodontic treatment at the Department of Odonto-Stomatology - Hai Phong Medical University Hospital in 2022 to describe cause of the disease, clinical and radiographic characteristics of them. Result showed that in 34 patients, the number of female patients 58.8% was higher than the number of male patients 41.2%, the age group > 45 accounted for the highest rate with 67.6%. The most common position of damaged teeth was in the lower second molars with 32.4%; and the lowest one was the maxillary molars with 14.7%. The main cause of the disease in this group of patients was due to complications of tooth decay 73.5%, the rest due to fracture, tooth wear 26.5%. All patients had pain symptoms. Root canal morphology on X-ray film showed that the percentage of straight and curved canals was 56%, 44%, respectively. All of first molar were teeth with 3 to 4 canals. The number of teeth with 3 canals accounted for the highest rate with 64.7%. As the characteristics of each patient are different, clinicians need to examine and diagnose correctly to have an appropriate treatment plan.
