Abstract

Many countries around the world, including Vietnam, are facing a double burden of nutrition including malnutrition, overweight and obesity. This was a cross-sectional study of 318 students at An Duc Secondary school, Binh Dinh province in 2020. The objective of this study was to describe nutritional status, physical activities and some related factors in students from 12 – 15 years old. The research results showed that the prevalence of wasting, stunting and overweight - obese in students were 12.9%, 8.2%, 16.0%, respectively. Approximately 36.5% of students had low physical activity level based on the PAQ-C score. The proportion of students spending their time using electronic devices exceeding 2 hours/ day was quite high 56.6%. There is a relationship between wasting and stunting with the age of students. There was a relationship between
overweight - obesity and the frequency of street food use. These results show that nutrition and physical activities interventions should be focused on students from 12 to 15 years old.
