Abstract

The study conducted retrospectively on 390 inpatient medical records of patients from January 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019 at Thuy Nguyen district General Hospital, Hai Phong to the current situation of the cephalosporin antibiotic use in inpatients. Results: 3rd generation Cephalosporin antibiotic had the highest consumption rate in the hospital: 15.6 DDD/100 beds/day (93.5%). Single antibiotic regimen dominated with the rate of 66.41%, especially ceftizoxime regimen was most indicated (36.4%). The average duration of antibiotic use of the inpatients in the study was 7.4 days. The rate of combination of antibiotics was 26.9% (105/131). Hospitals need to improve management and supervision of antibiotic use in order to limit the use of broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotics.
