Abstract

To determine the prevalence of being bullied at school and investigate some related factors in secondary school students in Da Nang city. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 447 students in Da Nang city from September 2023 to June 2024. The rate of being bullied at school among secondary school students was 68.5% (95%CI: 64.4% - 72.7%). Several factors associated with the prevalence of school bullying among students include: academic pressure, feelings of loneliness or anxiety, having witnessed domestic violence, receiving emotional support and assistance from family, familial support in decisionmaking and the frequency of sharing thoughts and feelings with family, a sense of safety within the school environment, the frequency of sharing thoughts and feelings with teachers, and perceptions of peer support (p < 0.05). The rate of being bullied at school among students in secondary schools in Da Nang city was quite high. Therefore, it is necessary to have close attention and coordination between families, schools, and teachers to help improve the situation of being bullied at school.
