With the rapid increase in car usage in Vietnam, particularly among young families, regulations regarding safety equipment are crucial to ensure children’s safety in traffic. To contribute to the body of scientific evidence and support legislative action, we conducted a study to determine the current status of safety equipment usage in Vietnam. The study employed a combination of document reviews, information analysis, and quantitative data collection across three major cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The findings revealed a very low rate of safety equipment usage in all three cities, accounting for only 1.3%. It is essential to promote the use of child safety equipment as it plays a critical role in protecting children from injuries or fatalities in motor vehicle accidents. Moreover, regulations should be established to ensure the proper use of child restraints in vehicles.
