Statistical scan statistics was performed to detect signal for cluster of cases and emergence of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Ba Vi district, Hanoi. The study analyzed surveillance data collected in period week 1, 2022 to week 8, 2023. The results showed that during the study period, there were 289 cases reported by 31 commune-level units in the Ba Vi district. Of those, 42 cases found to be parts of 6 clusters identified, the rest were sporadic cases. Clusters of cases were found in adjacent communes in the northern area of Ba Vi district, which is adjacent to the Red River. The clusters were most identfied and concentrated in November 2022. This study suggests the application of spatio-temporal scan statistics can be applied to support the dengue surveillance and responses, the findings contribute to the decision for cluster investigation, outbreak handling and support planning dengue surveillance.
