Summary:
In 2015, a survey on immunization coverage was conducted as part of a comprehensive review of the Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) to provide quantitative asssesment of its performance. A total of 2,422 children 12-23 months of age were recruited for the survey. The result showed that, immunization card retention was 84.7%. The BCG vaccine was given to 2,413 (99.6%) & BCG scar was seen in 98.9% children who received BCG. 97.3% and 96.8% of children received three doses of OPV and DPT-HBV-Hib, respectively. Measles vaccine coverage with first dose was 96.4%. A total 2,279 (94.1%) children were fully immunized (FIC) at national level, 7/8 provinces had FIC over 90%, except Binh Phuoc province (83.7%). 0.25% children were not accessed immunization service. Most common reason for partial immunization or unimmunization was “the child who was ill and unable to get vaccination” (33.5%). BCG-Measles dropout rates were relative low 3.2%. Accessibility of immunization services is good as the coverage of most vaccine is over 96%, except Hepatitis B birth dose vaccination within 24 hours (56.3%) coverage needs to be improved. However, it is also found that immunity gaps should be closed in Binh Phuoc province
